Queen of the Playground:

We realized the minute that Elizabeth Anne was born that she would be a force to be reckoned with. She is a fireball of love and laughter that blows past anything in her path. For a petite little girl she has a belly laugh that would make the largest gullah woman proud.

She will stop and smile any time a camera is pointed in her direction.

Her intelligence can be deceiving, she doesn’t show off her reading skills or her math skills. Instead she will breeze through a room and correctly answer how many countries there are in the world without blinking.

Last night she told Larry she needed to stay up late to draw peace signs because she is worried about world peace.

Speaking of staying up late, the child does NOT SLEEP. We put her to bed, we turn down the lights….and then… BUMP. Bump, scuffle, bump. It sounds like a football team is practicing in her room. One night I caught her jump roping. Sometimes she is putting on a play.
Whatever she is doing, she is giving it her all.

That includes loving all of her friends and family.

Scene: Sitting in the Car

Lawson: “Man, this car is full of K-R-A-P.”

Lizzie: (Listening to him spell.) “Lawson, there are not any crumbs in this car.”

It is hard for me to believe that my baby boy is six.  He acts sixty on some days and 6 months on others, but all in all he is just a really cool kid.  He is smart and funny and has a quick wit that amazes me.

He does well in school. He is loving soccer and had his last game for spring today. I think that in the Fall he moves up to the age group where they actually keep score.

He can be sullen and grumpy at times. He also knows exactly what to say to make me crazy. Yet, when he smiles like this it makes up for it:

He still gets overwhelmed in certain situations, but handles things better. Today he got a little claustrophobic when trying to get seated to blow out the candles, but regrouped nicely.

I can’t wait to see what this year brings. We are starting baseball for what is truly the first time (I am not counting the horrendous t-ball experiment of 2007).

I miss having a place to talk about the kids, even if I was posting infrequently.  I am going to try a slimmed down version that a friend was kind enough to install for me.  Thanks!
